“Of course, I’m okay with it,” Green stated Friday night. “I’ve been one of Jonathan Kuminga’s biggest supporters since he arrived. If this is his chance to start, he deserves it. He’s been playing exceptionally well, and I want to see him succeed.”

Green reflected on his own career path, recalling how veterans stepped aside to allow him to thrive. “I’m a product of a vet willing to step back for me. You pay it forward,” he said.

Kuminga, the Warriors’ seventh overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, is seen as a critical part of the franchise’s future. Starting alongside Andrew Wiggins and Kevon Looney in the frontcourt, Kuminga brings athleticism and downhill attacking capabilities.

Kerr explained the reasoning behind the lineup change, aiming to manage player fatigue while integrating younger talent like Kuminga.

“We’re trying to maximize Jonathan’s downhill ability and give him more opportunities,” Kerr said. “It’s about finding combinations that work without overburdening Draymond and Steph [Curry].”

Kerr acknowledged that injuries to Wiggins (ankle) and Moses Moody (knee) could further complicate rotations. Both players exited Friday’s game, and their status remains uncertain for Sunday’s rematch against Minnesota.

The Warriors have resisted trading Kuminga, despite offseason discussions about acquiring established stars like Lauri Markkanen or Paul George. Instead, the team chose to invest in Kuminga’s development, banking on his ability to evolve into a cornerstone player.
