Lewis Hamilton Reflects on Brazil Struggles – Looks Ahead to F1 Season Finale

Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time world champion and outgoing Mercedes driver, has shared his candid emotions following a tough Sao Paulo Grand Prix, revealing he briefly felt like he “didn’t really want to come back” after the challenging weekend.

Hamilton endured a disappointing race in Brazil, exiting in Q1 during qualifying and salvaging just a single point with a 10th-place finish. He described the weekend as a battle against an “undriveable” car and endured what he called “the bumpiest ride ever.”

Reflecting on his struggles, Hamilton acknowledged the frustration of his current season: “It’s frustrating when you have a season like this, which I’m pretty sure I won’t have again, or at least I’ll work towards not having again. It wasn’t a great feeling in that moment.”

Hamilton also addressed comments attributed to Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff in a new book, where Wolff was quoted saying, “everyone has a shelf-life,” referencing Hamilton’s impending move to Ferrari. Wolff clarified in a subsequent interview that the remarks were taken out of context, praising Hamilton’s sharpness and skill when the car performs.

In response, Hamilton dismissed any tension, reaffirming his respect and affection for the team: “I’ve got a team that I genuinely still love. Even though I am leaving, I want to make sure that I give them the best I can in these next races.”

Mentally Strong Amidst Criticism

Hamilton took the opportunity to reflect on his resilience after a challenging season, noting: “There’s been so many things said about me, there’s been so many microaggressions… Nothing can take me down. I’m still here, I’m still fighting, and I’m going to continue to push.”

The Briton also expressed his commitment to finishing the season on a high, smiling as he concluded: “If they provide a car that wants to stay on track, then hopefully we’ll have a better result.”
