UFC 311 Unleashes the Ultimate Showdown: Makhachev vs. Tsarukyan 2 & Dvalishvili vs. Nurmagomedov A Night of Explosive Title Fights You Can’t Miss!

UFC 311 Official Matchups: Islam Makhachev vs. Arman Tsarukyan 2 and Merab Dvalishvili vs. Umar Nurmagomedov

UFC 311 has officially confirmed two highly anticipated title fights, with Islam Makhachev defending his lightweight title against Arman Tsarukyan in a rematch. In the co-main event, Merab Dvalishvili will face undefeated contender Umar Nurmagomedov for the bantamweight title. Both fights will headline UFC 311 on January 18 at the new Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, California.

Makhachev vs. Tsarukyan: The Rematch

The main event at UFC 311 features a thrilling rematch between Islam Makhachev and Arman Tsarukyan. Their first encounter in 2019 was a Fight of the Night, with Makhachev narrowly defeating Tsarukyan, who had stepped in on short notice. Despite the loss, Tsarukyan impressed many with his skill and resilience. Now, nearly six years later, Makhachev looks to defend his lightweight title for the fourth time, following wins over Alexander Volkanovski and Dustin Poirier. Tsarukyan, who has won four straight bouts, holds a 9-1 record since their initial encounter and is eager to claim the title that slipped away in their first clash.

Dvalishvili vs. Nurmagomedov: A Bantamweight Showdown

In the co-main event, Merab Dvalishvili will put his bantamweight title on the line against Umar Nurmagomedov. Initially, Dvalishvili had hoped to return in March, but with Ramadan approaching, the timing didn’t work for Nurmagomedov. After some back-and-forth and verbal exchanges, Dvalishvili pushed for the fight to happen as soon as possible, expressing his frustration with Umar’s disrespect. The UFC quickly made it official, with both fighters agreeing to the matchup. Dvalishvili, on an impressive 11-fight winning streak, captured the bantamweight title by dethroning Sean O’Malley. Meanwhile, Nurmagomedov remains undefeated with an 18-0 record, including six UFC victories.

The Road to UFC 311

UFC CEO Dana White revealed that the bantamweight title fight came together quickly. Dvalishvili made it clear that he wanted the bout to happen immediately. White shared that Dvalishvili entered the UFC office, frustrated with Nurmagomedov’s comments, and demanded the fight be booked. When the UFC contacted Nurmagomedov, who was in Dagestan, he enthusiastically agreed, saying he was ready to fight anywhere, anytime.

Looking Ahead to UFC 311

With two title fights now confirmed for UFC 311, fans are in for an exciting night of action. The highly anticipated rematch between Makhachev and Tsarukyan promises to deliver fireworks, while the bantamweight title fight between Dvalishvili and Nurmagomedov will be a tactical showdown. As the event date approaches, more fights are expected to be announced, adding to the excitement surrounding this major UFC pay-per-view event.
