Callum Hedge has officially announced his move to Abel Motorsports for the 2025 Indy NXT season, and he is brimming with optimism as he embarks on this exciting new chapter in his racing career. Reflecting on his growth during the 2024 season, Hedge expressed his eagerness for what’s to come, emphasizing his focus on maximizing his potential in the upcoming year.
“I’m incredibly excited to join Abel Motorsports for the 2025 Indy NXT season,” said Hedge. “2024 was a great year for me, and I feel like I learned a lot, not just about the Indy NXT car but the series as a whole. This should make 2025 smoother, as I can focus on getting the most out of the car.”
Having used 2024 as a developmental year, Hedge is now confident he’s ready to challenge for the championship. “Our goal in 2025 is simple: to contend for the Indy NXT by Firestone championship. 2024 was about learning and growing, but now that I’m joining Abel Motorsports, I’m feeling really confident about our chances of being a contender and continuing the great legacy of Kiwi drivers in the IndyCar system,” he added.
Hedge’s move to Abel Motorsports is backed by Tasman Motorsports and several other New Zealand-based business entities. Team owner Bill Abel, who has followed Hedge’s career closely since 2023, is also excited about the partnership.
“I first met Callum in 2023 in New Zealand, and I was immediately impressed with his driving skills,” said Abel. “Since then, I’ve kept a close eye on his progress, and I’m thrilled to have him join us at Abel Motorsports. His first season in Indy NXT was impressive, with moments of brilliance, and I believe he’s the perfect fit for our team. There’s no reason why Callum can’t compete for podiums, wins, and ultimately the 2025 championship.”
As the 2025 season draws nearer, both Hedge and Abel Motorsports are eager for the challenges ahead. With Hedge’s talent, growth, and confidence, he’s poised to make a strong push for the Indy NXT title, continuing the proud tradition of successful New Zealand drivers in the IndyCar system
