After a strong start to the season, injuries have affected the Phoenix Suns, particularly the absence of their superstar Kevin Durant. With Durant sidelined due to a left calf strain, the Suns have struggled recently, losing six of their last seven games, and their record now stands at 9-7 ahead of the NBA Cup matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday.
Kevin Durant’s Status for Tonight‘s Game
The official injury report for the game on Tuesday has yet to be released, but according to Shams Charania of ESPN, Durant is expected to return to action tonight against the Lakers. Duane Rankin of the Arizona Republic also reported that members of the Suns‘ staff feel Durant “looks good” after a successful five-on-five practice session, marking a significant step toward his return.
With the Suns approaching the middle of their six-game homestand, staying put for the week could be advantageous for Durant’s recovery. The team’s schedule offers an opportunity for him to return to the lineup after more than two weeks of absence.
Bradley Beal’s Return and the Suns’ Hopes
In addition to Durant’s potential return, the Suns are also hopeful that Bradley Beal will rejoin the lineup. Beal has been dealing with a calf issue and has missed Phoenix’s last five games.
This season, Durant has been playing at an elite level, averaging 27.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game. He is shooting 55.3% from the field, 42.9% from beyond the arc, and 83.6% from the free-throw line.
